Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #268: Tell us Why

Sorry this is a week late, but I guess better late than never.  As for the photos that are my favorites, I have exactly three which I think are my most memorable.  Both were taken within a few feet of my front door.  The first one is a picture I always come back to.  It is from January of 2011, when we had a big snowstorm here in Everett, Washington, and my street was a winter wonderland.  Few cars braved the deep snow on the street, and my neighborhood was eerily quiet.  Everything was muffled.

As I recall, I was one of the brave ones, and I made it to work every day, when many of my coworkers did not.

My second favorite photo was taken in my back yard, also in the snow.  We have two suet feeders and a seed-feeder for all the birds who come by in every season.  Some of the most fun are the flocks of tiny Common Bushtits.  They are little, gray birds and their twittering flocks are a joy to watch.  I still can’t believe that I  was able to capture thirteen of them at once, on the suet feeder.

This picture was taken through the glass sliding door to the backyard.  I was just incredibly lucky to catch them at the perfect moment.

My final photo was taken from the deck of one of our Washington State Ferries, on its trip from Kingston to Edmonds.  This photo, I think, just perfectly captures the natural beauty of the Puget Sound area.

Mount Rainier

The mountain just seems to hover over the landscape, and you can see the Seattle skyline behind the hills.  The sailboat is also a perfect addition.
