I knew it was wrong, but I did it anyway. We went to our Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra concert at the Kirkland Performance Center this afternoon. The soloist today was Israeli jazz clarinetist Anat Cohen. We have heard her before with the orchestra, and were eager to see and hear her again. As usual, she did not disappoint. She has great stage presence, and is just a wonderful player.
What I knew was wrong, yet did anyway, was take video with my iPhone 15 Pro. Someone a few rows ahead of me did it first! Yeah, I know, that’s no excuse, but I did it anyway. Here’s about a minute of the group playing And The World Weeps, by Dr Lonnie Smith.
Ms. Cohen is such a great musician, and she obviously loves playing with SRJO. A friend of the band whose mother died recently, donated the money to bring Cohen back to Seattle, and we were all very grateful to be able to see and hear her again.
Here’s part of their encore piece, Chega de Saudade, by Antonio Carlos Jobim.
