Well, since just this week I posted some photos from this year’s Bellevue Arts and Crafts Fair, I guess I need to find some others for this post! Hubby and I always go the Washington State Fair, and I am always a picture-taking fool when we go (especially since I got my first smartphone and always have a camera at the ready)!

Now, it wouldn’t be a fair without the carousel, would it? The one at the Western Washington Fair is especially colorful, and dates from the early 1900s. Aren’t those horses gorgeous?
And then, there are the REAL horses! I have been horse-crazy since childhood, and we always find the horses to watch at the fair. It really brings back memories, watching the 4-H riders strut their stuff.

Markets don’t have to necessarily be “Farmers” markets to be intriguing. Our local specialty Asian Market always has cleverly-designed arrangements of exotic fruits, vegetables, and prepared foods to delight the eye and tempt the palate.

Did you even know that there is a citrus fruit called Buddha’s Hand? That is really exotic!

These are dried crabs! That might scare any child!

At least once a year, the store features an exhibit of exquisite Japanese dolls, often depicting aristocrats in their elaborate court garb.

Most fairs have an amusement area with all sorts of rides for children and adults. The Washington State Fair is no exception.

I’m an old fuddy-duddy, and the only ride I go on is the Tilt-a-Whirl. Hubby and I try to go on this one every year.
But there aren’t only amusements at the fair. Our state does have agricultural areas in both Eastern and Western Washington, and all of them submit colorful displays of their products. Some of the displays are very imaginative.

The various Granges around the state use many different themes for their displays. Fun!

They also have displays of crafts at the Washington State Fair. I think this one is the best I have ever seen! Enormously intricate, the Harry Potter themed quilt includes just about everything wonderful about the boy wizard’s world, including his owl Hedwig! And see the flying Ford Anglia?
This year’s fair is only two weeks away, and we are definitely planning on attending!

Love that Harry Potter one!
