Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day

So here are some real and cartoon black cats who have crossed my path lately. Of course, the most important black cat in my life is the one who rules the roost at our house, and has both Hubby and me wrapped around her furry paw. The Lady Kikyo.

She is 15 years old now, and here are some photos of her when she completed our family in 2010.

The day we brought her home

Down the years…

Kikyo, keeping me warm while I read

And, may she rest in peace, here’s the black who I had before Kikyo. Her name was Milhaud, which is pronounced Mee-yo, named after a French composer. She was 18 years old when she died, and had been with me for 17 of those years. She enabled me to survive the worst few years in my life.

My very favorite cartoon kitty.

Jiji, the cat with the Brooklyn accent

Jiji is the sidekick of young witch Kiki, from the anime movie Kiki’s Delivery Service. He is hilarious!

Black cats make everything better

Next, here’s one of my favorite internet cats. He is Rolf, the University of Warwick (England) Campus Cat. He posts on X every day, documenting his excursions around campus to greet students and faculty.

Rolf, a handsome guy

I hope this is a sufficient appreciation of black cats, who always bring good luck.

      1. Just outside Des Moines!

It’s great because we’ve got what we’re slowly turning into a hobby farm/orchard, and dear husband is less than half an hour from work in really bad traffic.

      2. We’ve been here for six years, and finally feeling sure that we’re not moving again after this. (Which was the plan, but you know how plans are.)
