We get what we tolerate: Store Closures Due to Theft

Here’s a Link to an article on MyNorthwest.com. It shows how the Pacific Northwest’s Leftist rulers are literally destroying the local economy by tolerating, and actually encouraging rampant theft and vandalism from its retail stores. Here’s a quote from the article.

We get what we tolerate. Late afternoon Tuesday, Fred Meyer’s parent company, Kroger, announced two more store closures. That brings the total to five stores set to shut down in the area.

The company gave a list of reasons. Rising costs, regulations, but the number one reason? Theft. If you look closer, it’s addiction playing out in plain sight. As long as we tolerate theft, this is what we get.

I see it in my own neighborhood. The last few times I’ve gone to the Auburn Fred Meyer, there was a receipt checker at the door with a gun on his hip. When I popped by yesterday, no sidearm, just a ballistic vest. Progress, right?

Follow the link for the rest of the article. We citizens see this every day. Local chain QFC, also owned by Kroger, is closing the store we have used most often, because it was not making money. This state is governed/ruled by a far-Left cartel, including “democratic socialists”, who hate capitalism and those who engage in it, and they are allowed to run roughshod over everything. There is very little punishment for crime, especially property crime, and most offenders are prolific repeat criminals.

This is what we get for tolerating crime. More and more crime. Many residents are giving up and leaving.

  1. Leftist co-worker was ranting about the bad economy and told me how a friend of his is closing three of her pizza stores in the Tacoma area because the economy is so bad people aren’t eating at them. I gently suggested that perhaps crime in the Tacoma area and a minimum wage approaching $20 might have had an effect. Nope. She has been in business for years, is very good at it, and the economy is the problem. Sigh.

  3. The complete refusal of the lefty NPC’s to comprehend what is in plain sight never ceases to amaze me. It reminds me of something I heard on a lefty talk show out in San Diego back in the fall of 2000, which of course was the closing weeks of the GW Bush vs. Al Gore campaign. I was in town to help deliver a training class to members of our corporate security department, and was checking out local FM radio offerings while working on my presentation. California, as usual, was suffering from the highest gasoline and diesel prices in the country. As I tuned my Walkman radio (remember those?) to one station, some AWFL was complaining to the host how the sky-high prices couldn’t possibly be the fault of the Clinton/Gore administration, which had been in power for eight years, but blamed it on “the speculators.” I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair.
