Welcome to Chinatown-International District Seattle. Epicenter of Crime and Drugs.

As usual, the Downtown Seattle Association (business group) is urging Seattle residents to go downtown for festivities. Funny how they ignore the homeless tents, filth, pro-Palestine demonstrations (hijacked the tree-lighting ceremony last year), and crime that have plagued downtown since 2020.

KOMO did post photos from last night’s tree lighting. See them HERE. I don’t see news of that lighting, just the photos. By the way, the tree-lighting used to be sponsored by local department store The Bon Marche. It had been bought by Marshall Fields of Minnesota decades ago, then bought out by Macys and the name was changed to Macys. The store closed for good in 2022, when the local brutal Covid response closed most retail in Seattle and all over the state. Downtown has never really recovered, and now has a 37% vacancy rate. Please notice that the DSA completely ignores the crime. Here’s what goes on today.

So let’s see what’s happening in the Chinatown-International District, on the south-east border of downtown.

Many thanks to local news reporters Jonathan Choe and Ari Hoffman, who keep us informed about what is happening in our formerly-fair city. Now, large parts of it are drug and crime-infested dumping grounds. Here’s another part of the downtown core. Same old same-old.

The Homeless-Industrial Complex is strong in Seattle, VERY strong. No actual homeless housing is built, and the “hotels” that are converted to housing are hell-holes, (not) assisted by “social service” outfits like Plymouth Housing. The facilities allow residents to keep using drugs, and most places are hotbeds of crime, drug use and sales, and trash. Jonathan Choe cites the high crime in the CID, and the fact that the perennially short-handed police department is constantly being called there to take care of incidents that are becoming more commonplace. The addict residents also trash the place, so they are under constant repair. Nothing ever improves.

Obviously, the billions of taxpayer dollars spent on the homeless problem are nearly completely ineffective, but nothing ever changes. The problem is that those social service “charities” are run, badly, by cronies of the local politicians, and their executives are paid very high salaries (to be routed back to the politicians’ campaigns). Everyone knows that it’s very effective money-laundering, but it never changes, since Seattle and King County keep voting the crooks back into office.

The DSA tries to put a beautiful face on Seattle by citing crime statistics, saying that “Crime has been trending down for months”, ignoring the fact that the reason crime is “down” is that most crime is not even reported anymore! For the past at least five years, residents have simply stopped reporting property crime, since the police department simply tells them to file a report online, and police are never seen. Seattle is one of the cities that stopped reporting crime to the FBI, so it’s unknown what the crime rate really is. But we, the residents, do read the news, and notice that every single day has stories of shootings, break-ins (some stores have been robbed many times), carjackings, and home invasions.

WE know the crime rate is not down, but going up. We know that the City Council is made up of the descendants of 1960s radicals, who view the police as “pigs”, and all “minorities” as victims (even though most crime is committed by those minority thugs). And we are watching closely to see what ill effects the new socialist mayor will have on Seattle. Well, they brought it on themselves, and they will suffer the consequences.
