R.I.P. Pat Caddell

Pat Caddell died yesterday from complications of a stroke.  He and his good nature will be missed.

We met Mr. Caddell on the Hillsdale Cruise to Hawaii last summer.  For a guy who was a Democrat pollster for decades, he sounded surprisingly conservative in his lectures on the ship. We enjoyed his stories of political campaign polling, and we were surprised by the vehemence of his anger at the lies told by some liberal polling outfits.

He was always honest (unlike some he told of), and had a great sense of humor about history, and the part he played in it.

May he rest in peace.

Is This New York Abortion Law Evil?

Or, as Ben Shapiro puts it,

New York Governor Cuomo wants to ban the Death Penalty…Except for Unborn Children; go ahead and kill those.

abortionny

Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law the most comprehensive abortion law in the United States.  This new law, passed by the now-100%-Democrat controlled Legislature, allows termination of a pregnancy up to the moment of birth.  Yes, that is correct, New York now allows a full-term BABY to be murdered if the mother and her doctor deem her health in danger.  Various “news” outlets describe this as “updating” New York abortion laws, and “adding strong legal protections” for “abortion rights”.

The above-mentioned Governor of New York is nominally a Catholic.  As I remember it, the Catholic Church forbids contraception, and defines abortion as murder.  And the Catholic Bishops have reacted to this new law that is celebrated by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Bishops call for Cuomo to be excommunicated.

cuomocelebrates

Look at that tag line on the podium.  No Time to Wait.  And the title of the new law is the “Reproductive Health Act”.  However, one thing the act ignores is the fact that the pregnant woman is not the only individual affected by abortion.  What about the child?  Well, this new law in New York deems that child disposable.    The statistics show that, in New York, more black babies are aborted than are born.  Does this indicate discrimination against minorities?  Nope, the Progressives in New York are perfectly fine with it, since Abortion is their Holy Sacrament.

And what about the Abortion Doctors?  Doesn’t the Hippocratic Oath say “First Do No Harm”?  I guess that in New York, the Culture of Death rules even the medical profession.    This list was taken off a Web Site called “safest abortion”, by a medical group, NY OB-GYN Associates.

  • Teenagers do not need their parent’s permission to have an abortion.
  • There are no waiting periods
  • No need for state approval
  • Patients can perform their abortion in their doctor’s office.
  • New York State Medicaid covers abortion for women with a low income.

Although, there are some pro-life doctors who have spoken out against this destructive (literally!) new law.  But it appears that they are in the minority.

It is a crying shame, what Feminism hath wrought in the United States, and around the world.  Human beings are reduced to the status of afterthoughts, permitted to be done away with, even if they can sustain life if allowed to be born.  I never had children myself, but this new law makes me very sad.  I weep for the babies who will not be allowed to live, and contribute to the tapestry that is Humanity.

Did you vote Democrat on Tuesday?

You did?  This is what you voted for.

Antifa-TuckerCarlson

Protest-AjitPai

Protesters outside the home of Ajit Pai, the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.  Mr. Pai has a wife and children, who were frightened by the angry people shouting outside their home.  They had to go into hiding.

This is what Antifa promises people who do not agree with them.

Antifa-2

This is who they are.  These people are not supporters of conservatives.

mob

Democrat supporters prefer mob rule.  Anyone who disagrees with them is liable to have a mob on his front lawn, or outside his office, screaming and threatening violence.

If you voted Democrat on Tuesday, this whom you voted for.  Be very careful out there.  One wrong word to the wrong person could lead to these people forming up outside YOUR front door, demanding blood.  Your livelihood may be threatened, your family might be in danger, if you get on the wrong side of the Liberal Mob.

Who ARE these people?

I found this picture this morning, of Democrat 2020 presidential hopefuls. Just look at these potential candidates.

Dems2020

What impressed me about this picture is the expressions on the faces of all four. Every one of them comes across as a scold. Not one smiling face. The three on the right are obviously speaking angrily to their audience. The one on the left looks like he has a stomachache. Will the American people elect an angry scold to the Presidency? Will these potential candidates appeal to the good side of the electorate, or will they attempt to rile us up to throw that nasty, racist, misogynist occupant of the White House (which is what they all think of President Trump) out on his ear?

RB49 followers and readers, what would you think of this field if you were just some average citizen?

WAAAAHHH!! We don’t wike Twump! We gonna pwotest WAAHH!

WAAAAHHH!! We don’t wike Twump! We gonna pwotest WAAHH!

This is how the modern Democrat in Congress thinks these days.  Tonight will be a big speech to both houses of Congress by the 45th President of the United States (yes, he won, you lost).  And the crybabies in the loser Democrat party are wailing, gnashing their teeth, and planning ways to protest the President’s speech.  They are simply lost in the 1960s.  As the President has said before: Sad!  And, frankly, disgusting to see such puerile, juvenile behavior from adults.  And the worst part of it is that the senators from my state are going to be right up there disrespecting and protesting the legally elected President.

Blue State Ballot Blues

ballot

I live in Snohomish County, Washington, north of Seattle. Yesterday I received my election ballot in the mail, since we have all-mail voting in our state. We have races for County Council, County Executive, and various other lower-level offices (City Councils, Assessor, Treasurer, Clerk, Sheriff…). The State of Washington also has “top-two” primaries, where the top two vote-getters make it through to the general election. For the first time, and much to my chagrin, I discovered that both candidates for County Executive and County Council are Democrats. I also noted that, of the 12 down-ballot office candidates, six are unopposed! Now, I generally make a practice of not casting a vote for any unopposed candidate (why would they need my vote anyway?). I also never cast my vote for any Democrat. So where does this leave me? Of the 14 races with any candidates, I will only cast my vote in six races.

To add insult to injury, I remembered receiving an email from the top Republican county official in my legislative district, noting that they were looking for people to doorbell for County Council Candidate X, “Canvassing this Saturday for G. T. October 17th 9 am to 11:30AM Campaigning to elect G. T. 2nd District Snohomish County Council. G. is the moderate candidate for this position.” So our Snohomish County Republicans have been reduced to doorbelling for Democrats! Here in Western Washington, which is generally run from the deep-blue Seattle area, the Republicans have been unable to field candidates against the local Dems. I guess we do get the government we let the other party elect.

Thought Experiment-Can a Politician Have Friends?

Thought Experiment-Can a Politician Have Friends?

Have you ever met a politician?  Been friends with one?  I once went out to dinner with a group of friends, one of whom was a politician.  It occurred to me to ask if a politician can ever really have friends, or if everyone they meet or know is a vote to be won.  I wonder if this differs by party?  My guess is that Democrat politicians have no real friends.  They tend to think of everything in life as being political; they see everything and everyone through a lens of politics.  Republicans, on the other hand, tend to be more religious, and churches and synagogues are a part of life where you have something else on your mind other than the next election.  What do you think?
