Here are today’s stories regarding the increasing level of crime taking place in the Seattle area.  Most local police departments are short-handed these days.  And the Seattle City Council is still hostile to law-enforcement.

Prolific catalytic-converter thief arrested, released a day later.  Arrested in Bellevue, east of Lake Washington.  King County judges release suspects all the time, and they then go out and commit more crimes.  Even when the judges are victims themselves, they still release most criminals.

Suspect pleads not guilty in North Seattle quinceanera shooting.  Possibly gang-related.

Amazon handed Ring footage to police without user consent.  Terms of use when you buy a Ring doorbell camera set say that Amazon reserves the right to give your video to police in an emergency.  In these days of perpetual emergency, homeowners have no recourse.  Might this make you think twice about purchasing an Amazon product which gives them unlimited access to your home video?
