It is sometimes surprising, but you can find beautiful photo subjects in even the most mundane kitchen. You don’t need to have fancy fixtures or gourmet dishes. One evening, as I was preparing some of the veggies I add to my recipe for Enhanced Sloppy Joes, I noticed how interesting the onion I was slicing looked. Onion? Onion!

Viewed close-up, even the lowly onion can be a work of natural art.
Accumulated in bits and pieces over our 20 years of marriage, we sometimes pick up individual pieces of glassware. This glass just stood out as particularly beautiful.

I loved the beaded accents added to the outer surface. They make the glass easier to hold onto, besides adding to its visual attraction.
This particular item of kitchen inspiration mainly elicits salivation. Every year on the first Saturday in December, we hold our Holiday Open House and Chili Party. We make a big batch of Hubby’s Famous Chili, and open our doors for friends to drop by for food and conversation. This was last year’s batch, prepared in our new chili pot.

Now, doesn’t that just make you want to go have some chili? It uses over three pounds of meat, and incorporates vegetables too (green pepper, celery, and onions). And no beans.
Speaking of food inspiration, during the Jewish High Holidays, Trader Joe’s provides its Challah bread in a different form from the rest of the year, which is braided. I thought this loaf was quite intriguing.

And yummy, too!
One last thing from our kitchen. This is one of her favorite places to park, when we are around making dinner.

Yeah, that means that we are always vacuuming up cat hair, but she is definitely a member of the family, and a kitchen staple!

Thanks for participating, the onion rings was a a inspired shot and yes, also artistic
Thank you!
I also loved the onion image RB, very creative. My husband and I hosted a New Years Day chili party for years. A fun couples golf event first then the chili at our house. He made a red chili with meat and I made a white one with chicken. Most everyone had a bowl of each!!
We make Dog’s Breath Chili from the Seattle Classic Cookbook. My mother gave me my copy, and Ray had one too!
