Overlooked? I’ll show you overlooked! You might not believe this, but it is true. I have lived in my neighborhood for 23 years, and it was only this year that I finally noticed a dilapidated building across the busy street which borders the back of our complex. It is behind some trees, and not painted, so it is easy to miss. It is on the south side of the street, and the middle of the street is the boundary of our city-south of the street is unincorporated county land.

I’m pretty sure that this building doesn’t meet city code. But it has interest of its own.
I even found something overlooked in my own backyard. A few years ago, we bought a cute yard sculpture, made out of copper-it’s a cat on a pole. I almost forgot about it, until I was out watering the yard. I didn’t realize where Hubby had put it, but he’s there if you look hard enough.

And there he is, peeking out from behind one of the fence-boards.
When you go to your bank, how often do you notice the landscaping around the building? I venture to guess that most people keep their eyes on the building, walk in and do their business, get in the car and drive away. One day, when I was at my credit union, I noticed the green reed border between the building and the next piece of property.

I liked the way the late-afternoon sun lighted up the plants.
I do pay attention to my surroundings, and almost always find beauty in some weird places. Most people would overlook some mushrooms growing in a dark place. I noticed these near a local store.

Last weekend, we went to the Bellevue Arts and Crafts fair. I always pay attention to the colorful items made of glass; glass-making is very popular in the Pacific Northwest, and there were several booths selling glass objects.

How many people walking past this display of garden sculptures might miss the bird while admiring the waves?
Here’s the Link to this week’s Original Post. And Tina’s too!
I love finding mushrooms (although now that we live in Arizona, they’re not very common as you can imagine) and I love the glass. But my favorite has to be the peeking cat in your own yard. 🙂 I hope the challenge helped you see some new things and I’m happy you decide to join. Thanks!

Loved the little cat RB, and I’m really not a cat person 😊. Had to laugh at the fact you’d not noticed the dilapidated building!
