Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #276: Looking Up, Looking Down (and trying not to trip over one’s feet)

Hello, everyone.  This week’s challenge is going to be great fun for me, as I am always in the habit of looking both up and down for good photos.  It’s amazing what you can spot, if you look down around your knees.  We have been some places recently that had beautiful flower containers on the ground.  In Vancouver BC, I was impressed with the pretty purple foliage of these plants.  They are called “Wandering Jew”, and I had heard of the plant but never seen any.

Around the neighborhood, I found this really interesting fungus.  It goes very well with its background bark!

When walking on a beach, I tend to look down to see what lies before me.  Here in the Pacific Northwest, we tend to have very rocky beaches, with coarse, gray sand and rocks which ultimately originated in the Cascade Mountains.

These rocks make up a beach along the Columbia River.

Speaking of the Cascade Mountains, what better opportunity for looking up, than in the mountains!  Our favorite Diablo Lake Overlook in the North Cascades offers both looking up and down.

Looking down, you see the blue-green water that is colored by glacial runoff.

I have always been fascinated with clouds, and we sure have a wide variety.  Look up!

A trip to the State Fair always rewards a look up.

And a trip to the city sometimes can give you a crick in your neck from looking up at the tall buildings.
