Back in the Dark Ages, I used to laugh at people who spent lots of time watching cat videos. Hell, there’s even a bunch of memes making fun of people who waste hours a day watching cat videos. That was, until I joined Twitter in November of 2022. Now, I totally understand people who like to waste time watching cat videos.
I think the first cat account I followed was called “Why You Should Have a Cat”, and they always post cute stills and videos of cats. Once you follow one cat account, more start showing up in your timeline, and the more you see, the more you follow. Yes, it’s totally addictive. So I figured I’d show my readers the ones who have turned out to be my favorites.
I guess I’d have to say that my number one followed account is called Catnip, with the name @johnstf. He lives in Scotland, and has three cats, variations on a theme Oriental Shorthairs. They are just regal-looking, and every one is different. Matteo is all-black with very short hair and thin as a rail. Gustav is all-white with fluffy fur (I learned that long-haired cats have “floof”). And Muldoon is calico with short hair. Here they are.
I’ve always loved the silver tabby color scheme. Here’s a guy who with his brother, posts some nice photos.
And I almost forgot one of my very favorite Twitter cats. Her name is Missy. Get a load of those eyes!
Here’s a gorgeous pair of Siamese, Poppy and Coco. Another thing I learned is parents of Siamese cats are called “Meezers.” You learn something new every day on Twitter.

Then, there are the memers on Twitter/X. I follow @GeneralCattis, and he always has funnies.
Another fun account I follow is the Studio Ghibli account. One day, she did a post about Ghibli cats. My very favorite has always been Kiki the Witch’s familiar, Jiji, the black cat with the Brooklyn accent.
