On this day, August 1, in the year 1988, The Great Rush Limbaugh took to the airwaves, the first step on his way to becoming the Greatest Radio Broadcaster of All Time. He broadcast from WABC in New York City, and it did not take him very long to build his huge audience of millions, all around America, and around the world.
I did not actually discover Rush until 2001, when my boyfriend, now my husband, turned on the radio as we were going out for dinner. I wasn’t too happy about that, since I had never actually heard Rush before, and I believed all the bad things said about him. Well, it took me exactly ten minutes to become a big fan, and this blog is a result. I still have a Limbaugh Institute window sticker in the back window of my car, and I wear my Limbaugh Institute t-shirt and sweatshirt proudly.
Rest in Peace, O Great Maha-Rushie. We all miss you greatly.
I really miss him. The greatest Limbaugh fan I ever knew (excepting your own good self) was my late mother-in-law. She read and re-read all his books. My husband and I bought her an annual subscription to the “Letter” for years as a birthday gift, and I still have her “EIB” Christmas-tree ornament that we got for her one year.
