This year, we have a very special reason to give thanks to God, for having allowed Donald Trump to overcome all the adversities visited upon him by his enemies, and triumph to be re-elected President of the United States. The might hand of God was with Mr. Trump, and with us, his supporters, and we can already see the beneficial effects, even before he takes office in January. Investors are taking actions now that show they expect increasing economic growth that enables all Americans to improve their life situations.
Hubby and I are grateful for our continued good health and wealth. I worked all year, and socked away enough money to pay back the cash I used in 2022 to buy my new car, and then some. All in spite of a heavy tax burden that takes half of what Social Security I draw, at my age of 75. Neither of us got sick in the past year. In fact, since I started work in January of 2023, I have not missed a single day of work, except for vacation days. I am able to support my preferred charities, including Hillsdale College and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the beneficiaries of my Required Minimum Distribution from my IRA account. This year, I also contributed to Turning Point USA, and Purrfect Pals, a wonderful cat shelter.
We are thankful that The Lady Kikyo, our 14-year-old black cat, has remained alive, in spite of her diagnosis in April of end-stage kidney disease. It was touch-and-go for a while there, but she is doing well now, and she is showered with attention whenever I am home.

I heard the cat chattering at the back sliding glass door, and I saw what the was talking about.

It was a pair of Varied Thrushes, and this is the male. Taken from 8 feet away, through a double glass door!
So we don’t forget how much he meant to us, we were sure to play Rush Limbaugh’s Thanksgiving monologue, which he did every year. We played the bittersweet video from 2020, when we knew that he was fighting lung cancer. His voice will never be forgotten.
This afternoon, we went out to take a walk around Silver Lake, to get some exercise. I got some very nice photos.

Those coots didn’t seem to mind the chilly temperature of the air and water.

Reeds at the side of the lake.
We are home now, and I am about to start dinner. Again this year, we bought a turkey breast roast from a local market, and Hubby will make his heavenly mashed potatoes. We will make a nice green salad, and I found some fresh asparagus to stir-fry with onions and mushrooms. We are also thankful that we have such a bounty of fresh food that is not only nutritious, it looks beautiful on the plate. We recognize that our prosperity is due to the fact that we live in the Greatest Country on God’s Green Earth.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!
And, happy Thanksgiving to you, too, RB49. Cuzin Steve. 🦃
We miss you and Stuart. Give him our best. Hugs!
