A little something good from Washington State, for a change. Beauty in the Skagit Valley.

Earlier this week, Hubby and I had a little getaway to LaConner, situated on the Swinomish Channel. It’s a long tidal channel northwest of Seattle. On the West side of the Channel is the Swinomish Indian Reservation, and on the West side is the picturesque town of LaConner.

We go there often, as it’s only about an hour from home. Since our friends who just move up here, we extended our Wednesday lunch for a couple of days. We stayed at a nice place right on the water, where we were within walking distance from everything in town.

How’s that picture postcard shot I took Thursday night? They should pay me for it!

The town has a pedestrian walkway all the way through town, by all the little businesses on the water side. Here are some photos taken from that walkway.

From our little terrace, tide is way out

See the beach across the Channel? It disappears when the tide comes in, and the tide moves really fast. See demonstration below.

Watch the speed of the water.

Across the channel on the west side, is a Swinomish Tribe fishing port.

In front of our room was a very pretty rock garden.

On Thursday, we drove north of town, along the part of the Channel you can’t see from town. The channel is pretty wide there, with some tiny side channels. You could see that the tide was out.

I think the tide was out when we were there. How about those high-and-dry boats!

Here’s a “sightem” from our walk through town.

On our drive through the Valley, Mount Baker was out in all its glory.

And right on the hotel property:

We enjoyed our stay, and will surely return soon. This isn’t all, so stay tuned.
