Our big suet feeder was very busy this afternoon. The chestnut-backed chickadees were fighting each other and the Northern Flicker for the two-sided feeder.
Everyone got their turn.

I fill the feeders infrequently and inconsistently during the summer, on the assumption that the birds have plenty of other, more natural options. It also means, however, that I don’t have as many birds in my yard. Getting to the time where I need to get back on a schedule. Today I will clean and refill the hummingbird feeder (which seems to have developed a bit of grunge inside so it’s time), and refill the two seed feeders. I think I have suet so will have to dig around to see if I really do.
