Sunday Stills on Tuesday: #Roadside Views

This will just be a quickie.  On Sunday, as it happens, we took a little road trip up US Highway 20 to North Cascades National Park.  It’s still pretty early in the year, and the highway isn’t fully open yet.  But it was open as far as our favorite destination, the Diablo Lake Overlook.

We made a pit stop just outside of Marblemount, and we found a new institution there, a brand new restaurant.  Neon, anyone?

We will make a point of stopping to eat there sometime when we have more time.

It was late in the afternoon when we arrived at the overlook, and you could tell it was early in the season.  There’s still a lot of snow at fairly low elevations this early.

But you can still see the blue-green water of the lake, caused by the glacial runoff.  We didn’t stay long, because the wind was stiff, and it was pretty cold.

As we headed back down, we spotted this pretty waterfall that seems to be new since last year.

Cheers!
