The Democrat-controlled Washington Legislature is gearing up to pass numerous new laws that will profoundly affect all citizens of our state, in adverse ways. Since they can pass any legislation they wish, with no Republican votes, they are free to continue to ruin our formerly-beautiful state and its increasingly struggling people. Herewith, some of what is going on here.
First, I am publishing this entire post from X, by a Washington resident, whose handle is Think4Yourself. It covers most of our worst problems in a very concise manner.
Please take deep look into Washington State. We were purple state up until about 1985. Then *actor* Gary Locke became governor, Acorn invaded the state, and elections were stolen. Christine Gregoire ushered in all AMV and since then something wonkie has happened overtime to turn deep red counties blue. Somethings up with the Chinese trade deals here and selling them LNG, the state was declared a sanctuary state, crime has soared, drug trafficking, rape, & murder, illegal aliens, homelessness, total evisceration of education, using Federal dollars to fund NGOs…the whole place is crawling with deception and woke mind virus weavils. They’ve been after the children, there is DEI in schools, and no plans to abolish it, CRT, no requirement to have passing grades to graduate, they are trying to take away the right of parents to protect their children, they are after 2A, they created a weird woke call-in line where people can report *hate* if they get their feelings hurt, they don’t think parents need to be informed, for 48 hours, if there child was sexually abused by a state employee at school. They say that if 12 year olds can have a period, they are old enough to get pregnant so then they are old enough to make their own health decisions. How long before they extend that to 8, 9, or 10 year olds? There’s something wrong with all three states along the Wretched Coast. Who bought their law-makers? Who bought the elections? Who bought the judges? Who bought the city councils, mayors, & governors offices

By the way, Washington is owned by the very powerful WEA, the teachers union, who almost entirely donate to DemocRats, who they can rely on to do their bidding. Striking is against the law for all public employees, but the teachers have ignored this for decades, and are never punished from breaking the law. They are, essentially, above the law.
King County includes Seattle, and has been increasingly Leftist in all its policies. Citizens are unsafe in their homes, workplaces, and streets, but the county still defunds their public safety officers.
Just today, there was the announcement that the Cheesecake Factory in downtown Seattle will be closing after 23 years. The reason? Rising crime, vandalism, and homelessness. Retail in downtown Seattle has been declining for years, and is steadily becoming worse. New stores are not opening.
On the local crime scene, two people are arrested in Seattle, for a murder that took place in Indiana. The murder victim was Venezuelan. Care to guess their immigration status?
The Democrats who run Washington believe in Abortion at all times, up until birth. That is their holy sacrament. There are more dogs in Seattle than children.
The City of Kirkland, on the Eastside of Lake Washington, has invited Plymouth Housing, who builds housing for the homeless drug addicts, to open a new facility. There are essentially no rules against drug use and sale in this housing, and Seattle has already seen vastly increased crime, vandalism, and open drug use, making the area unsafe for everyone. Here is a result.
Most states don’t have their own estate tax. Washington does, and it is becoming more onerous all the time. Who would want to die here, and have the State confiscate 38%? What did the State do to deserve that? Nothing! This punishes success, denies children their rightful inheritance, and destroys small businesses. This is the ultimate Politics of Envy.
Crime? We have it!

The University of Washington in Seattle just loves the murderous “Palestinians”, and encourages destructive “demonstrations” on its campus. They just love their terrorists.
The legislature which hates legal gun owners, is going to pass a law that will require a permit to Buy a Gun, with onerous terms and invasive background check and training requirements. Clearly unconstitutional, but they don’t care. They favor criminals over taxpayers all day long.
Had enough? Well, so have we. But there’s nothing we can do to stop what’s coming, other than leave the state.

When I was 13 (in 1966), my family drove out there for my dad to attend a convention in Seattle. I said then, that I would liver there some day. As fate would have it, I moved to Tacoma in 1991 to be near my children when I retired from the USAF. My ex was from there and she moved there after we split. I loved it there. The changes were slow, at first, but it became increasingly worse. Everything from crime, taxes and the cost of living. Approaching retirement, we new we had to leave, at least the Puget Sound Area. We finally decided on Texas and moved to a rural town about 60 miles NE of Dallas. We immediately fell in love and our Texas neighbors embraced us as if we’d been born there. 3 of my 4 children and their families still live there. One of my sons-in-law is a career deputy sheriff in Thurston County. My oldest move him and his family to Northern Tennessee. While all my children are conservative, they three remaining there have established their lives and see no need to move. Anyway, I have added your blog to my must read list. I love it and keep up the great work!
Why thank you very much! I was 13 in 1962, and my family went to Hawaii to escape the World’s Fair. I was born and raised in Seattle, and I am ashamed of what it has become. The Pacific Northwest has the world’s most perfect climate, but I am willing to leave, because of the deleterious politics. Looking forward to more of your comments!

I remember when Washington State was a gem among places to live.
A day wandering Seattle was safe, fun, and interesting with a myriad of eclectic small shops and restaurants.
Now it is a shithole.
I’m glad I got to see Seattle in 1991, when it was still a vibrant city. And I got to see the Boeing Everett plant back when Boeing was on top of the aerospace world. Now, they are both dying, for many of the same reasons.
Yep. Hubby is a Boeing lifer who lost his job in 2020.
