First trip of the year to the North Cascades

Via Highway 530, Arlington, Darrington, Rockport, Marblemount to US 20 to Newhalem and the Diablo Lake Overlook.

First stop on 530, the Oso Slide Memorial. A nice roadside installation, commemorating the 2014 landslide that crossed the river and inundated a whole neighborhood.

Individual memorial

Here are Mountain Views along the highway.

Next stop, just outside Rockport, a little roadside park along the Skagit River. We stopped there on the way up, at around 4:00PM, and around 8:15PM on the way back.

Next stop, the town of Newhalem, a Seattle City Light company town. They run the Skagit River Dams that supply power to the city. They are Gorge, Diablo, and Ross Dams.

Next stop Diablo Lake Overlook.

I figure I have all these photos about a thousand times, because we go up so often. But I never tire of taking the same shots!

Time to go back down the mountain.
