My readers will know that I am an avid X/Twitter denizen (joined in 2022, have over 8700 followers). The past week has seen dramatic upheavals over there, following the assassination of conservative leading light Charlie Kirk. Both sides of the political spectrum have published their reactions to that brutal murder; the Left is celebrating, and the Right is mourning. It seems that the assassination by a young Leftist man has led to people from all walks of life, including schoolteachers and administrators, doctors and nurses, and government and NGO employees to use all available social media platforms to loudly express their happiness at the fact that one of their most mild-mannered but very popular opponents has been removed from the scene.
Those Leftists have been receiving an enormous amount of pushback from some unlikely quarters, as well as the usual suspects on the right who were horrified at the killing of our well-loved happy warrior. Not only have many leftists become “former leftists” this week, but there are a considerable number of registered DemocRats announcing that they are leaving the party and joining Republicans, rather than just registering as Independents. High and increasing numbers of celebrating Leftists have lost their jobs for bringing shame on their employers, and more than one big account is keeping track of all the job losses on their own Web sites. I expect this series of job losses and whining leftists to continue for a long time, even when it ceases to be at the top of the “trending” list.
We on the Right have simply had enough of Leftist warfare against us, and we are finding support just about everywhere. This murder was the last straw for many in the middle, and the DemocRats in elected office have seen their support wane, in the face of their wishy-washy responses to the killing of a colleague. College students across the country, and around the world, are clamoring for new chapters of Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA organization on their campuses. Figures like 32,000 are being cited as the number of new chapters in the works.
Now to the situation in my title. My readers will also know that I am a cat person, and love to show off my little black cat, The Lady Kikyo, in my posts. There are many “cat lovers” communities on X, and I subscribe to more than one. Now, these communities generally stay away from politics, and support Cat-rescue organizations all over the world. This week, a cat-lover account announced that they are taking a break from X. Post below.
Please notice that she doesn’t mention where the “anger and hatred” on X are coming from. In my experience, people on the Left are the biggest spewers of rage on social media and in real life, and any anger on our part is usually in response to the raging Leftists who send us death threats all day long with no consequences. The murder of Charlie Kirk has awakened many of us on the Right, and we are not passively taking it anymore. We are also aware that our fighting back against the Leftist rage is often interpreted by the Left as “hatred and anger”. In their celebratory posts, many Leftist say that Charlie Kirk spewed hatred, when we know that he never spoke a word in anger in public. Ever.
The ones leaving X, like the amount above, are leaving to avoid all the ugly emotions they see. But we all know that ALL the anger and hatred is on their side, not ours. Confession Through Projection” is very common on the Left. Projection is a Freudian concept that people project upon others the emotions that they themselves are feeling or acting out.
So, I asked a question on that thread, about where people were going in the meantime. I tried not to give any indication of which side I am on, and that I know that the people who leave are not mourners, but celebrators. Here is the response.
Now, Sue’s response to my question just made me laugh out loud. Just the idea that Bluesky is nicer and less polarized than X is obviously blinded and tone-deaf. Bluesky is a complete cesspool of Leftist rage, hatred, and filth. It is so bad that even some Leftists are closing their accounts and returning to X, rather than be surrounded by trash all the time. The fact that Sue thinks it’s politer and less polarized places her squarely in the Rabid Leftist category. Please note that this was my last response on this thread, since I got the information I was looking for. Follow this link to a story about what’s happening on Bluesky.
A good friend of mine was tossed out of her knitting group in 2016, due to her support of Donald Trump. The Left simply cannot tolerate any ideas which differ from theirs, and they instantly respond with ad hominem attacks and anger. It is a shame that everything is political to Leftists, and they can’t simply ignore the politics and enjoy interacting with other cat-lovers. You can feel sorry for them, since they seem to have no off-switch for their rage.

I recently reread Ian Kershaw’s biography of Hitler. Something that struck me was the intense politicization of everything by the Nazis. Kershaw quotes one German who complained that you couldn’t even start a bowling league anymore, it had to be a Nazi bowling league.
Kicking people out of knitting groups or cat-lover forums because they didn’t vote the same as you is exactly the same sickness. Thankfully, it hasn’t advanced quite as far – yet.
Hi, Tom. Many people have pointed out that for the Left, everything is political. So I guess that makes our modern-day Leftists the new Nazis. We should keep pointing out that the Nazis were National Socialists, putting them on the Far Left, not the Right. Thanks for the comment.
I tend to believe it’s not right-wing hate they’re avoiding by leaving X. It’s the truth they can’t stand! The truth that their ideology is sick and evil and twisted and murderous.
I call them the vampire Left. Even if you hold a mirror up to them, they can’t see themselves. And the truth is like garlic to a vampire, sending them scurrying into the night.
Good insights RB.
She is a rabid leftist and didn’t immediately suspect “Rushbabe” is political? Someone definitely lives in a bubble.
Well, more than one person has confused it with the rock band Rush, so she might have. I didn’t ask.
She’s right about one thing, BlueSky is “less polarizing” because it’s nothing but a liberal echo chamber.
Right you are! People on X have done long posts about how filthy the atmosphere is over there. Needless to say, I have never checked it out.
