Why does the WordPress “Get out the Vote” campaign make me nervous?

When I logged into my Dashboard on Calling-All-RushBabes this morning, I was presented with a huge logo where my stats usually appear.  It said “WordPress.com Voting Information Project”.  As anyone who visits this blog can see, the author is Conservative with a Capital C.  My antennae sense something behind the  GOTV campaign that communicates …..liberal…  Maybe it’s my imagination..or maybe it’s the sense that I have been getting for a while now that the folks at Automatttic who run WordPress are basically young, uninformed liberals (the ones who assumed that the “gentle giant” Michael Brown in Ferguson , MO., was gunned down while surrendering to the big, bad cop).  Well, my feelers sense that they and I will be voting for a different slate of candidates next week.  Take a look at this story about Votes being Altered and watch your back.

And I urge my well-informed, productive citizen followers to vote next week.  Make sure to vote for candidates who believe in American Exceptionalism, and Individual Responsibility, NOT dependence on government.  Vote for candidates who believe in the sanctity of Life, Liberty, and Private Property in the Greatest Nation on God’s Green Earth.  Vote for candidates who value secure borders, and Peace Through Strength.  Be very careful that your vote counts!

Cutting Off Their Noses to Spite Their Faces (Liberals hurting the groups they claim to support)

Always and everywhere, Liberals and groups like Acorn, claim that they support and work for the little guys, the downtrodden, the discriminated-against, the oppressed, the have-nots of society.  But when it comes right down to it, in the crunch, they favor themselves, and their white liberal cronies in big labor unions and politics, and their actions make their supposedly-favored groups poorer!  THEY are the only ones made richer by their campaigns to improve the lot of black people, and the poor, and women…

Take the case of the world’s largest retailer, Walmart.  It can be reliably shown that, when a Walmart opens in a neighborhood, that store provides entry-level jobs, needed services like banking, money-transfer, and even medical clinics, and low-cost everyday goods that the locals want to buy!  Walmart makes the people in their communities happier!  Yet, because they are unfriendly to Big Labor (since unionizing would result in loss of their low-income customers due to higher prices), White Liberal activist groups have succeeded in keeping Walmart out of many large cities.  This article recently on another WordPress blog (24/7 Wall Street), details large cities without Walmart.  Liberals SAY they want to help the poor, but their actions prove otherwise.

Earlier this year, a community organizing group in Portland, Oregon managed to drive away the independent supermarket, Trader Joe’s.  They claimed that the chain was not friendly to black people.  But if you asked the people actually living in the neighborhood, they would have LOVED to have Trader Joe’s nearby.  The activist group is wary of “gentrification”, which actually means improving living conditions in rundown neighborhoods; so those neighborhoods simply continue to deteriorate.  So the black people in Portland have been denied a grocery store in their neighborhood, not by “The Man”, but by their own black race-hustlers.  Are they better off? NO!

This recent story is not in the US, but Vladimir Putin’s thugs in Russia, in order to hit back at the US and Europe for supporting sanctions against them (based on the Ukraine situation), will ban imports of US and European agricultural and other goods.   Once again, those who suffer will not be the US or Western Europe, but the people of Russia, again demonstrating that those who are in power often have only their own welfare at heart, not those of their own people.

Oppressed peoples of the world, open your eyes!  See who really has your interests at heart!  Not the Community Activists, or the NAACP, or the Labor Unions, who have their own interests at heart, and only want more power over you.  The Conservative movement, who believes that each person should be able to make his own choices, to shop where he wants, and eat what he wants (not what Michelle Obama says he should eat), and get his children a good education.  We are the ones with YOUR interests at heart.

The Internal Revenue Service is Now a Political Organization

And you had better watch out!  Since the OTL Administration took power in 2009, they have used their admittedly left-leaning minions inside the agency (whose sole purpose is supposed to be managing and collecting taxes paid by individuals, business, and organizations and remitted to the US Treasury) to go after their political opponents.  Right now, you may think that, since YOU are not a Tea Party group, or a conservative PAC, that you have nothing to fear from an IRS who knows EVERYTHING about your life (whom you work for, how much you earn, what charities you support, whether you own your own home, where you live and bank, etc.).  Well, you have another think coming.  This past week, Lois Lerner, the former head of the IRS office that deals with tax-exempt groups (including, by the way, not only conservative political groups, but big UNIONS) again refused to testify in front of a Congressional Committee about her and her agency’s activities that suppressed and delayed the applications for non-profit, tax-exempt status of conservative groups ahead of the 2012 election.  And she has basically made herself more powerful than the Representatives of YOU, the PEOPLE of the United States of America.

On my other favorite site, Ricochet, Clark Judge just posted this.  It’s a possible answer.

It’s Tax Season again, and when you file your taxes this year, remember that YOU may become a target at any time.  The Democrat Party does not simply disagree with their opponents, they try to DESTROY them.  Read THIS and weep.  Now, the IRS has promulgated new rules for “social welfare” organizations that codify the suppression that they engaged in in 2012 and earlier.  There were more than 100,000 comments submitted, the majority of them opposed to such rules.

Wait, and watch……  And be VERY afraid!

With Thanks to a Ricochet Friend

One of our members (sorry can’t add link, as it’s behind our paywall) commented thusly in a post on how conservative parents teach their children. This is a real hoot!

What does Cat say?: “Meow, Meow”

What does Dog say?: “Bark, Bark”

What does Liberal say? “It’s Not Fair!”, “It’s Not Fair!”

My Best Move in the Past Year

The best thing I did in the last year and a bit was to join Ricochet.com.
By doing that, I opened up a whole new universe of erudition and wisdom (and humor, which is often lacking in today’s world). I have met, both on-line and in person, people who think like I do, admire what I admire, and fret about the things that make me anxious. Living in a deep blue state, it’s often difficult to find others who are conservative in their outlook. But my Ricochet membership opened up whole new avenues of friendship. Who would have thought there were so many wonderful, conservative people right in our area?

Shortly after my husband and I joined, we went to a meetup of members at a coffee shop in South Lake Union. We spent a very pleasant two hours in conversation with a dozen of the nicest people! They came from as far away as Portland to get acquainted with their fellow Ricochet members. After that, it just sort of snowballed. In January, I participated in my first “AMU”, or Audio Meetup (basically, a big conference-call). People literally called in from all over the world! The hosts are three members, one from Pennsylvania, one from Wisconsin, and one from Japan. Yep, Japan!! So I could place a voice, if not a face, with some of the names I’d seen on the site. And I discovered that there is more total “sense of humor” on Ricochet than anywhere else online or off. Even when we’re discussing how our country is going down the tubes, we can laugh. The member from Japan is especially funny, and I look forward to talking with him on almost a weekly basis now.

In May of 2013, Hillsdale College had scheduled a National Leadership Seminar in Seattle, so I decided to try to get together a Ricochet meet up around that seminar. My husband and I decided to stay at the convention hotel downtown for the seminar, so I reserved a room at the restaurant in the hotel for our get-together. Then I posted a notice on Ricochet, asking for potential attendees to get in touch with me if they were interested. Well, that meeting was a rousing success! We had about 20 people, including one of the contributors to the site, who is a long-haul truck driver, and an awesome writer. One of the Hillsdale professors came, as well as a Ricochet member who is one of the first class at the Hillsdale Graduate School of Statesmanship. You can see video of that here

In July, a member who lives in Whatcom County suggested a picnic, so I helped organize a nice outing at Meadowdale Beach Park in Edmonds on Puget Sound. That outing, too, was loads of fun, and members brought their families for a beautiful, sunny afternoon.

The best part of the year, though, was in October, when we drove to Las Vegas and back for a Ricochet National Meeting. Members, contributors, and even an Editor came from all across the country to meet and have fun with their fellow members. I actually found members in Idaho and Utah to get together with on the way down, too. On the trip home, we went to the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks.

So, now it’s 2014, and we look forward to more audio and physical meetings with our new Ricochet friends. In February, we are going to Phoenix for another Hillsdale National Leadership Seminar, and we already have found one Editor and three fellow members to get together with. Truly, if you join Ricochet, you will never lack for friends to meet, wherever you travel. For any of you who are interested, just drop by Ricochet, and take a look. If you decide to join, you will not be disappointed!
