This past couple of weeks, I have had occasion to observe two examples of an ancient plant that is still around here on Earth. The only species of its genus still existing, the Ginkgo tree has been around for over 290 Million Years! Just think, dinosaurs roamed among these unusual trees. I saw the first example in North Bend, when we were there last weekend. The one I saw still had its normal, green foliage. You can see the distinctive fan-shaped leaves that distinguish it.
I have no idea why this block still had trees with green leaves.
I saw the fall-colored trees around an empty office building that I pass in my car every day on my way to work. Finally, yesterday I turned off the road, into the parking lot, and photographed the bright-yellow trees there.
I think the yellow leaves are very attractive, and it’s quite remarkable to think how long this species of plant has been alive here.
