Once again, I will post this in its entirety for those who are not following Wendy on X/Twitter (she is @wendyp4545). This gives us a look into conditions prevailing in NC before the hurricanes and floods decimated the western part of the state, as well as eastern Tennessee. This also offers a look at the behavior of the state and federal governments, and especially North Carolina’s DemocRat Governor, Roy Cooper. Frankly, this is disgusting. Your government is working against you.
To the Litigation Attorneys representing all of the people in North Carolina who lost everything because of the flood and who will not have money to rebuild because they didn’t have flood insurance: There are a few things that you need to know.
A) FEMA didn’t update the flood zone maps for decades so the people who purchased their properties didn’t know they bought land in a flood zone. FEMA didn’t do their job.- Maria in the Morning interview 10-15-2024
B) Duke Power opened the dam that caused the water that created mudslides which then caused the roadways to fail and rivers to flood.
C) The River monitors were broken and had been broken and were reported by homeowners in the area near Chimney Rock.
D) No evacuation was given until after Duke Power opened the dam after the mudslides began.
E) Video testimony exists of victims who didn’t receive evacuation notices until the mudslide events were in progress.
F) FEMA Spokesman on Fox interview 10-14-2024 said that the Governor has to request FEMA. Governor RoyCooper was partying in New York and did not call in FEMA Search and Rescue causing many people who could have been rescued to lose their lives.
G) Many of the Representatives in North Carolina were convieniantly out of state or town including the Mayor of Chimney Rock. – Video testimony exists.
Given this information, I suggest that it is imperative that you all vote for President Donald Trump in November, to drain the swamp.

Yes by all means please vote for Donald Trump. But in all honesty things are in such a mess that I doubt he could make America America again if he had three terms.

Mudslides start at the top of mountains. Flooded rivers are below those areas. I live in Asheville, and am known for supporting conspiracy theories, but this is bs. Where in NC was this Duke dam?
A simple map search shows several lakes in the area. With Lake Lure in Chimney Rock… they should have evacuated downstream and started releasing water when they saw that track 3 days before it got there. The Forecast was for it to stall over that area. Democrats are incompetent.

The Lake Lure dam overtopped Friday after Hurricane Helene inundated the area, prompting warnings the dam could fail. Officials later determined failure was not imminent.

Please identify the lakes where the dams you are referring to were opened.
Identifying the lakes with the open dams would actually be useful, even if not from a skeptics perspective.
Do a simple search. The dam might be Cowans Ford Dam located near Huntersville on Lake Norman. I’m not familiar with the area, just read about it here:

Yeah this rumor needs to be debunked. It was the Mountain Island Lake dam. Evacuation notices were given for both Mt Island Lake and Lake Wylie.

Die hard Trump supporter from North Carolina here. And, certainly no fan of the governments in NC or Washington. That being said, I’m a life long Charlottean with close ties to many higher ups at Duke Energy. This rumor needs to be debunked. Duke Energy has no ownership or responsibility for the Lake Lure dam. The ONLY dam the Duke opened the flood gates on was Mountain Island Lake on the Catawba River. Evacuation notices were given well in advance for both Mt. Island Lake and it’s southern sister, Lake Wylie. Hope this truth helps.

Is the dam of interest on the moon? Water flows downhill. Where above Bat Cave and Chimney Rock is this illusory dam? Water on the Asheville side of the mountains separating these two areas flows to the French Broad, ultimately into the Gulf of Mexico. On the Chimney Rock side, the water flows to the Atlantic. One inconvertible fact is the Continental Divide. Test your reasoning skills, you would see your error.
I am a long-time resident of NC, and I often wondered why, in the face of strong down ballot electees, we always seem to end up with a Democrat Govenor. We have a strong/Republican/conservative House that has overridden Cooper numerous times, thank God. His conduct, and that of Duke opening the dam, should be considered criminal and those responsible should be brought to justice. Never going to happen because we, like so many other States, have no true representatives.
I’ve seen plenty of flooding in areas NOT downstream of any reserviors. This post seems very misinformed & misleading.
