There were 3 shootings this weekend in Seattle. 3 are dead, 3 are wounded, and no one has been arrested.
Instead of dealing with that, Seattle Socialist Mayor Katie joined Embassy Suites workers on the picket line. Last time she joined striking workers, Starbucks moved.
Then, again…
Another fatal shooting in Seattle last night, this time at Pier 66.
SPD has 927 deployable officers against 1,184 budgeted. On Sept. 1 the city cut its hiring bonuses — up to $50K for lateral officers — to save money. Bellevue is still paying $30K to poach them.
Seattle’s leaders have decided police staffing is a cost to trim. Residents are the ones paying for that decision.

A late-night shooting in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood left a 17-year-old boy dead and a 21-year-old man seriously injured, and police say the suspect remains at large, according to the Seattle Police Department (SPD). Seattle police said dispatchers received reports of a shooting near Elliott Avenue and Bell Street shortly after 11:44 p.m. Officers arrived and found the 17-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. Police provided aid until Seattle Fire Department crews arrived, but medics pronounced the teen dead at the scene. Police also found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Medics took him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition. The shooting comes after two separate Belltown shootings overnight Saturday into Sunday left two people dead and three others injured.
DYING CITY: Do not come to Seattle this Labor Day weekend. Unless you want to see mentally ill people running through the streets, homeless drug addicts destroying neighborhoods, and a black market of stolen goods being fueled by violent criminals. Sunday afternoon, I visited three hots spots in Chinatown-ID, SODO, and downtown. It’s worse than ever. Now you know why socialist Mayor Katie Wilson’s approval ratings are hitting new lows. She has lost this city.
And if all that wasn’t enough, you have this little incident in the University District after the Apple Cup (U of W vs WSU).
Nice tunnel, huh? No passenger escape routes, little signage, electric trains have no PA system when the power fails, so passengers have no idea what the problem is. Most have heard, however, that homeless often steal the copper wire from the electric stations to sell for drug money, so I’m guessing that was on some peoples minds.
Finally, that local legacy media. Matt Calkins, columnist, recently quit the Seattle Times. Here’s why. He has turned into a truth-teller, confirming what we citizens already knew.

Sept. 6, 2026Predictably, the comment section was disabled at the bottom of the editorial, continuing a trend of censorship on issues the Times knows will spark subscriber blowback. The paper almost always tries to justify the suppression by saying it’s a “sensitive” subject, but that is not the true reason.

The Times can attempt to quash dissent from its subscribers, but they can always write letters to the editor. I do have to hand it to KOMO, though, since they have a lively comment section on their Web site, and when I read a story I always read the comments. There are more dissenters than approvers in those comments, but the media never seem to care, or change how they report stories (or NOT).
This is Seattle today. Is it any wonder that businesses and residents are giving up hope of any change, and leaving?
