The Queen Mary 2 gets underway late in the afternoon, just after our Mark Steyn group comes together for a taping of Mark’s regular show. Yesterday, we traveled from Quebec City overnight to Saguenay up the Fjord, which we totally missed. We did hear the ship moving, but it is remarkably stable. This morning we awoke at the dock in Saguenay, and we had the day to explore.
The temperature was about 48, with a 28-mph wind blowing!
We walked over to the little stretch of beach opposite the dock.

Next, we strolled up the slope to the lower part of the town, to admire the very French-style houses.

We walked into a little store, where I found some of my favorite Cherry Coke Zero, and bought a couple of bottles to take back to the ship. Now I have some Canadian money to spend!
Farther along, we stopped at a little pocket park along the seawall to admire the ship, and watch the waves near shore.

Heading back, I stopped to admire a little beachside flower bed. The wind was ruffling the long grasses and flowers between the rocks.
I also admired this little rock garden just above the beach.

Once we returned to the ship, we walked down to the well-equipped gym. I found the rowing machines, and had a short little workout. I plan to do the same tomorrow.

When the Mark Steyn group was done taping, we headed back to our cabin, and I finally got to get outside on our little balcony, to watch the scenery on the banks of the river. Fall colors abounded!

Notice in the last photo, a little settlement on the river bank, with houses, barns, and other buildings. The climate is harsh, but the scenery is spectacular.
Now, for some video.
As always, I just love standing or sitting and watching the water slide by. This water is steely gray and obviously frigid! Best to watch it from above, holding on tightly to the railing.
