Fallen Leaves, harbinger of winter approaching

The pear tree in front of our house turns beautiful shades of red and purple, each autumn.  The leaves ripple, creating not only color interest, but appealing shapes, both before and after they drop from the branches, to the ground underneath.  When I arrived home after work today, I took some pictures.

One of the benefits of living in the Pacific Northwest is that the fall and winter are wet, and the grass stays green.  The red and purple leaves make a nice contrast on the green grass.
