CFFC: Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Bark and Leaves

Woof!!   That’s the bark.

Nah, not really!

How about these?  They are two different Douglas Fir trees.  The one on the left was cut down, and I took the picture to show how thick its bark is.  The one on the right is very much alive, growing near Deception Pass on Whidbey Island.

Here’s my husband for scale.  That’s a huge tree!

The plant above was found at that same Deception Pass, growing just back from the beach.  I’m afraid I don’t know what it is.

Ornamental grasses have long, slender leaves.  I have some in my back yard.

Water lilies, on the other hand, have flat, round leaves that float on the surface of the water.
