This is becoming tiresome. Washington State committing slow (then faster) suicide. Citizens hardest hit.

Let’s start with a local story, from MyNorthwest.com.

They don’t have a Plan B: Intentionalist survey shows Seattle’s small businesses struggling more than during Covid. The combination of increasing taxes, rising minimum wages, declining city services and foot traffic have made small business’s survival a real struggle. Now, since Seattle just elected a Socialist mayor, the outlook is increasingly cloudy. The Left who governs most of Washington cities, coddles lawbreakers, tolerates rampant shoplifting from retail stores, favors illegal immigrants and doles out money to them, while homeless tents take over city parks and sidewalks.

The Legislature in Olympia, heavily weighted toward far-left DemocRats, keeps thinking up so many new ways to burden the citizens with increasing taxes and limited Liberty. Here is some commentary and information about what our Masters in Olympia are dreaming up for us.

A “Millionaires” Tax is unconstitutional per the Washington State Constitution. Never mind that state citizens have rejected an income tax no fewer than 11 times in the past. The Tyrants in Olympia will get what they want.

And why would that be, you ask? Here’s why.

Here’s the complete list from the post above, with commentary by me:

  1. Amazon is expanding its offices into Canada.
  2. Starbucks is expanding its offices into Tennessee. (Sources say this is just the beginning of a total move to TN)
  3. Boeing has expanded its operations into South Carolina. (Will Everett or Renton plant close first?)
  4. Microsoft is expanding its offices into Canada. (expansion of Redmond campus on hold)
  5. Costco will probably flee, too.
  6. Alaska Airlines will probably leave, too.
  7. T-Mobile – has moved its operations to Kansas.

Their fondest wish being that ALL citizens of Washington be subject to an income tax, the legislature is not overly worried about the capital flight that will result.

Since the Left has no limiting principle, none of the adverse effects of declining economic activity will prevent them from adding tax after tax, increasing those taxes, and doing their best to chain their citizens to the state by making it VERY expensive to leave. Thurston County, where Olympia is, has already started that process.

And in Seattle?

Again, our state makes the national news for all the wrong reasons. The real estate market has already started to reflect the increasing taxation and uncertainty. More homes are on the market, and taking longer to sell.

The post and photo below are just another indication of the declining fortunes here. Even though it’s not really Washington’s fault (the ship is sailing to VA for de-commissioning), the photo in the gray fog is dispiriting.

Ryan Frost of WPC finishes with these 3 key points:

1. The tax relief for small businesses is 10% of what Ferguson claimed he’d support.

2. The new income tax draft does NOT guarantee sales tax breaks/ holidays, or free lunches for school kids. Only ‘intent’.

3. Democrats are attaching an emergency clause to prevent a yes/ no referendum because; they believe they can confuse enough voters with a November initiative that they write the title and fiscal impact statement to…directly on the ballot.

Here’s an example of how much influence the Republicans of Washington State have. Rally in Olympia over the coming unconstitutional income tax.

Dozens showed up. Over 100,000 signed in CON against the income tax.

The State Legislature passed a law that makes this even more likely to happen. Parents have no rights in this state.

Is it any wonder that over 50% of businesses say they are considering leaving the state? When the state legislature can literally pass anything they want to, at any time, you don’t have “democracy”, you have TYRANNY.

This may be all we’ve got left.
