I think the high temperature here today was 94F. Pretty hot for the Pacific Northwest. So I thought I’d post some photos of local water features.

Our closest body of water is Silver Lake.

On my way to lunch with a friend today, I noticed lots of boats out.

How about some glacier-fed lakes in the North Cascades?

That photo was taken at high summer. Here’s what you see in the spring.

West of us is Puget Sound, an arm of the Pacific Ocean. It has many moods, and is crossed by Washington State Ferries as well as all manner of pleasure craft, and big cruise ships.

Speaking of ferries, British Columbia has its own fleet of car ferries plying the waters of the Gulf Islands.

A favorite way to cool off is a trip up to Snoqualmie Falls. The spray always makes it nice when the weather is warm.

An entirely different kind of waterfall we found in South Dakota is just at ground level, and the upper falls are wide and shallow. We found Roughlock Falls to be very peaceful.

Now, aren’t you cooler already?
