Washington State Wildfires, waiting to happen

The video below is not the best, but I think you can see what I mean when I explain. (play video at 1/4 speed) On Tuesday, we drove down to Mount Rainier, and we drove through miles of National Forest. Literally everywhere we drove, the forest floor was littered with downed trees, fragments of trees, and heavy undergrowth. For many years, there have been snowstorms, floods, and fires, which have affected the forests in Washington State. Every time we drive through our forests, I marvel at ALL the downed trees that remain from storms from many years past. Our State is full of Environmental Wackos, who believe that No One should be allowed to clean up those downed trees, since loggers are held in VERY low esteem here. The logging industry is a shadow of its former strength, because they are held up as destroyers of the hallowed “Old Growth” forests.

We know that those messy forest floors, filled with dead trees, are a magnet for boring insects, rot, and fire danger, yet the Department of Natural Resources refuses to entertain the idea of cleaning out the debris. Years of fire-prevention have left our forests in terrible shape, just waiting for the spark to set them alight. Not too many people live around this area, but those who do are in terrible danger of losing everything, should a big fire happen.

Eastern Washington is literally burning up right now, with story after story of homes, barns, and entire neighborhoods going up in flames. It is only a matter of time before this happens right here in Western Washington. And it will be the fault of our Government.

Two different posts from earlier today. A study in contrast.
Curtis Graham is the husband of my legislative colleague Rep. Jenny Graham. Their house burned. They’re OK, but he’s devastated. Conservative guy, writing from the heart.
The former WA governor is a delusional grifter who’s lately been peddling a wildfire “insurance” scam. Still thinks he can get some big DC job. Maybe the US Senate seat currently held by Patty Murray.
Which one is politicizing the fires?

Our State is is dire financial difficulty, due to the Democrats who run it, and their catering to their homeless and illegal alien voters, and use of taxpaying citizens as mere piggy-banks for their Leftist ideology of abortion, trans-gender butchery, and drugs. They are leaving huge amounts of money on the table, when they could be cleaning up our forests, preventing wildfires, and employing the loggers who are the Forestry Experts. Here’s how:

First, DNR could auction off the rights to clean up specified portions of our state forests, to logging companies who know how it is done. Once the rights are auctioned off, they could let each company harvest the downed trees, clear underbrush, and keep most of the wood for themselves, to sell or otherwise use. The rest would be State property, to sell at low prices to whoever wishes to buy, and maybe provide some wood to schools and colleges for training forestry students. And the Public wins, in cleaner forests, healthier trees, and peace of mind that fire danger is reduced.

OK, now who’s up for petitioning the State to do this? Anyone?
