Here are a couple of things we saw on our trip to South Dakota. I am writing this from the car so cannot do much detail.
Here are a couple of things we saw on our trip to South Dakota. I am writing this from the car so cannot do much detail.
This week, we went to Southern California for a Hillsdale College National Leadership Seminar, the subject of which was Politics and Principles. The venue was a nice Hilton Hotel near the John Wayne Orange County Airport. Over two days, we had a President’s Club reception, a nice dinner, with remarks by Dr. Larry Arnn, the President of the college, and an excellent lecture by Andrew Roberts, on The Importance of Churchill for Today. He brought, and signed, copies of his book on Churchill. Which weighs about 5 pounds! I bought one, and from just the first few pages it is going to be a joy to read.
The second day, there were talks by Peter Schweitzer, who spoke on the corruption of America’s political elite (which we are all familiar with already); Dr. Arnn, who discussed American Principles and Public Policy;
Christopher Bedford, on Trump and the Media;
And Dr. Shelby Steele, who discussed the current state of race relations in America. I know of him through his excellent writing in the Wall Street Journal, and I was excited to hear him speak.
I was very lucky, because on Saturday as we were just packing to leave, I actually met Dr. Steele in the hotel corridor, so I got a chance to exchange a few words with the man, who is very gracious.
The Hillsdale program ended Thursday at 3:00PM, so we had the rest of the day free. We headed over to the nearby South Coast Plaza Mall, which is any shopper’s dream. Inside the main court, we saw their wonderful Chinese New Year display. They did the Year of the Pig proud!
That’s a pretty happy pig, sitting on all that gold! But you really have to look up to get a real feel for the holiday.
The epitome of Festive!
On Friday, we headed up to Santa Monica, to meet a Ricochet friend of ours. Ray really wanted to see Venice Beach and its Canals, and our friend offered to take us on a stroll, and then out for lunch. It was a bit later than we planned, but we had a nice walk. Just in case you are not familiar, the “canals” of Venice, California, are narrower, and much shallower than the real Venice! But one of the canals is named The Grand, and people whose houses back up to the canal milk it for all it’s worth.
That’s their house number on the left! Very creative painting on their wall.
Very pretty, but that water is about two feet deep. No danger of drowning if you fall in.
We figured that the owner of this yard was a modernist type of artist. Both the tree with the crows, and the legs above, are in the same big yard.
When was the last time you saw a dinghy with a figurehead?
This is definitely Southern California! Ripe lemons!
Of course, when we were done and back to the car on the main road, what should we see across the street?
Yep, the homeless encampment. It was like we’d never left home.
I found this picture this morning, of Democrat 2020 presidential hopefuls. Just look at these potential candidates.
What impressed me about this picture is the expressions on the faces of all four. Every one of them comes across as a scold. Not one smiling face. The three on the right are obviously speaking angrily to their audience. The one on the left looks like he has a stomachache. Will the American people elect an angry scold to the Presidency? Will these potential candidates appeal to the good side of the electorate, or will they attempt to rile us up to throw that nasty, racist, misogynist occupant of the White House (which is what they all think of President Trump) out on his ear?
RB49 followers and readers, what would you think of this field if you were just some average citizen?
The DOJ has communicated to Congress that it is ending the Obama-era corporate shakedown regime, where it forced corporations who paid huge settlements to resolve conflicts relating to the financial crisis, to pay (liberal) third-party organizations as part of those settlements. Billions of dollars were siphoned off to various Obama special-interest groups, in violation of the Constitution.
Well, those days are over. Congress is working on legislation to outlaw that sort of executive-branch misbehavior. Jeff Sessions, in one of his very best actions to date, has ended the Obama slush-funds.
Sessions said the money should, instead, go to the Treasury Department or victims.
“When the federal government settles a case against a corporate wrongdoer, any settlement funds should go first to the victims and then to the American people—not to bankroll third-party special interest groups or the political friends of whoever is in power,” Sessions said in a statement.
In my opinion, those third-party groups should have to refund every penny to the US Treasury. Yeah, I know it’s a pipe dream, but it should be considered anyway.
Remember some of the Obama-era Department of (In)Justice activities? Like when Eric Holder refused to prosecute the New Black Panther members who were outside polling places intimidating voters? Like Operation Fast and Furious which bought guns for drug cartels to infiltrate back into the US? Like numerous “consent decrees” entered into under duress by many big-city (Democratic-run all) police departments, essentially admitting that their policing was racially biased? Like the bullying and imprisonment of an innocent filmmaker to cover up Hillary Clinton’s misdeeds in Benghazi? Like the hounding and destruction of “Joe the Plumber”, when he called out Obama?
Those Days Are Over.

This is how the modern Democrat in Congress thinks these days. Tonight will be a big speech to both houses of Congress by the 45th President of the United States (yes, he won, you lost). And the crybabies in the loser Democrat party are wailing, gnashing their teeth, and planning ways to protest the President’s speech. They are simply lost in the 1960s. As the President has said before: Sad! And, frankly, disgusting to see such puerile, juvenile behavior from adults. And the worst part of it is that the senators from my state are going to be right up there disrespecting and protesting the legally elected President.
Donald Trump won the Presidential Election. As we probably expected, the loser liberals erupted in volcanic Rage. Whenever things don’t go the way they want them to go, the liberals whine, cry, and riot. Yes, RIOT. In many large cities this week, there were the kinds of destructive riots that are basically the only way the losers know to express their feelings of disappointment and anger.
Well, they don’t only cry and whine. They destroy the property of innocent people, and they violently attack those they deem to have voted for the wrong guy. These are the people who decry violence and demonstrate against war! Here are today’s headlines:
[Edit: I am adding more as they come up. Watch this space. More every day]
Thousands of Seattle Public Schools students walk out of school to protest Donald Trump’s election. And the Seattle Police re-routed traffic!! I swear, in Seattle the inmates are running the asylum.
Talk of assassination, and he hasn’t even taken office yet.
Kirkland woman upset over election makes false rape claim. This just gets weirder!
Liberals, we know you. All rage, all the time. Losers.
I have to say, I had a great time on Tuesday night. I spent 2.5 hours in front of my computer, participating in the live chat with my Ricochet friends. There must have been over 200 of us, from all over the world, chiming in and giving reports of how the voting was going in their areas. People would come back from casting their ballots, and mention lines around the block at the polling stations. Many people were watching other broadcast and Internet media, and they would tell us what MSNBC and ABC and CBS and CNN were doing and saying. One member from Florida was very enthusiastic about how well the Republicans were doing in his state, which was considered a battleground. Many people mentioned how depressed the mainstream media folks were acting, as Donald Trump pulled ahead in state after state. Those who live in a bubble of liberalism were finally being hit with a big spray of cold, hard reality. I thought it was a joke, but it seems that the Canadian web site for potential immigrants actually went down under the weight of Hollywood and other celebrities and liberals making good on their threats to leave if Trump was elected. [I say to them, don’t let the door hit you on your way out!]
So, now it’s the Great Aftermath, and lots of liberals out there, especially the coddled young snowflakes, are reacting just like you’d expect them to. How? By protesting, of course! These cry-bullies seem not to know how to do anything except protest. In Seattle, they hit the streets. In California, the CEO of a tech company suggested very strongly that any employee who voted for Trump should resign! They are so blind, they who emphasize “tolerance and inclusion” proceed to exclude and discriminate against those who don’t think or vote like they do! Oh, and the Stock Market! Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up over 200 points. But the Nasdaq Composite Index fell over 42 points-another Liberal tantrum (tech companies are run by liberals who don’t know what side of their bread is buttered).
There are a lot of happy Republicans today. We hold out hope that Trump will really make a start on draining the swamp of Washington D.C. There are multiple posts over on Ricochet, with suggestions for a Trump Cabinet, and who he should nominate for the Supreme Court. We hope to say good-bye to ObamaCare in the new year.
I live in Deep Blue Washington State, where most western Washington voters voted for Hillary Clinton. I have a really hard time understanding why anyone would want an old, tired, sick, corrupt woman as president. If you really look at her record, such as it is, you will see that she had absolutely nothing to recommend her, and she had a whole litany of immoral, illegal actions for which the fawning Press will never hold her to account. Hillary Clinton demonstrably caused the deaths of four brave Americans in Benghazi, then lied to their relatives about how and why they died! She played fast and loose for years with confidential, classified State Secrets, for which many others have lost their jobs and gone to prison! I am disgusted with how the politicized FBI let her off scot-free.
We are fortunate that the Clinton Crime Family won’t be running this country.
I wish only for the best of a Trump Administration. I think he will do well as president, rolling back the misdeeds of the Obama years. Onward to Liberty!
I voted for Donald Trump. Because I emphatically don’t want this to rule over me.
I don’t want to be ruled by the Clinton Crime Family. I don’t want total corruption to live in the White House. I don’t want my taxes enriching the Clinton Family.
I don’t want an already-politicized FBI and IRS to literally threaten me and the rest of the American people with ruin if we step out of line. I don’t want the new Gigolo-in-chief screwing his little interns in the White House family quarters.
I don’t want the lap-dog national press corps licking the Clinton boots for the next four years, instead of reporting what is really happening.
I don’t want my life to be a line item in the federal budget, to be minimized at all costs, which is what will happen when ObamaCare (by design) morphs into Government-run health care. I don’t want to be forced to “just take a pain pill” instead of getting my needed knee-replacement surgery (I am 67 years old).
I don’t want an already-politicized Supreme Court destroying what is left of the Bill of Rights in the name of “diversity” and “equality”. I don’t want to be told that I am not to be allowed to defend myself in my own home. With the already-in-effect War on Cops, they won’t be there to defend me, which makes me and my family sitting ducks.
I don’t want to live in a country that values felons over law-abiding citizens. I don’t want to live in a country that values non-citizen, ILLEGAL immigrants over law-abiding citizens. I don’t want to live in a country that values Government Power over the peoples’ power. I don’t want to live in a country that values “green” energy over proven modes of generating the electricity that makes an industrialized country run, including the abundant coal, oil, natural gas, and hydro-power that is actually affordable by most everyone. Funny, wind turbines don’t produce power when the wind is not blowing, and solar arrays don’t produce power when it’s dark or overcast!
Oh, and one more thing… I do NOT want to be “governed” by someone who despises me! We know from the WikiLeaks emails that Hillary despises us “common” people, the ones who make this country work. She does not deserve to occupy the highest office in the land.
I am not looking forward to living in Hillary Clinton’s America.
How to Rig An Election, Explained for you by the Hillary Clinton campaign. How they conspired to instigate Violence (which Democrats always say they deplore) at Trump Rallies.
