Wisdom from Rush Limbaugh, on America’s Founding Principles

“You know what happened in Philadelphia in 1776 was a miracle. Divine inspiration had to have been there. The principles may be bigger than the men who wrote “em down, but they did write them, and they were not racists, and they were not bigots, whatever else the PC crowd teaches today…

Have you read the Declaration of Independence? “One nation under God…Creator.” The Pledge of Allegiance? Clearly the founders of this country believed in God and believed that we were all created and that we were all created equal. “Certain unalienable rights, among them life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness.” Life, liberty, pursuit; these words mean things.

You say that the principles are bigger than the people that wrote “em down, but it took people to write them down. Where did they get the inspiration? Where did they get the intelligence? They were great people that put this country together, a country that stood the test of time like no other country in the history of civilization.”

…We have liberated hundreds of millions of people who have lived in bondage and slavery. What is it about us? We’re not born special in terms of our DNA. What is it? I asked people to think about this, ’cause I don’t think they do.

This is part and parcel of what I call American exceptionalism. What is American exceptionalism? It’s not that we’re better people. It’s not that we’re smarter. It’s not that we have the advantage because of our geography, because we clearly don’t. So what is it that sets us apart? There’s one answer, and it’s found in the Declaration of Independence. “We are all endowed by our Creator.” …

This is a nation that became the greatest nation in human history–in however many hundreds of thousands, billions, whatever years you want to say we’ve been plodding the earth–because of ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary things, made possible by the fact that our country was founded acknowledging that our freedom comes from God.

Every time you go back and consult Founding Fathers, you find that their wisdom was timeless. Their ability to foresee the future was incomparable. Liberty is the birthright of every American. The usurpation of liberty–whether it be by nationalized health care or taxing the energy we need to live–that’s a seizure of liberty. That’s a usurpation of liberty under the false pretense of providing security or “saving the planet.’

The Founding Fathers were highly suspicious of government because they understood human nature. And they understood the human quest for power. They were fleeing what they thought were the worst aspects of the human quest for power. They were fleeing a monarch. They were fleeing a tyrannical king in Britain. They founded something completely opposite.

Yes, the Founding Fathers understood Human Nature. The Left denies human nature, believing in people as “blank slates” who can be taught or forced to do anything their betters decide, or make them do. My Hero Rush Limbaugh understood that more than most others. The Greatest of All Time is sorely missed right about now.
